    X-ray & Ultrasound

Sometimes the cause of your pet’s illness or injury may not be obvious on examination and further investigation may be required.

We use digital radiography to take images which can be enhanced to assist with diagnosis.

X-rays are commonly used to evaluate:

  • Lameness
  • Heart and lung disorders
  • Gastro intestinal disorders
  • Urinary problems

X-rays can be performed under light sedation or anaesthetic.

Ultrasound uses sound waves in a painless and non-invasive way, to make a computer image that helps us to evaluate if organs are working properly

Ultrasound is commonly used to evaluate:

  • Pregnancy
  • Ultrasound guided biopsy
  • Heart disease
  • Internal organ abnormalities

X-ray and Ultrasound facilities are available at our Alverthorpe Hospital and Castleford Church St Surgery.
