Advanced Practitioner status is awarded to Veterinary Surgeons who have demonstrated their advanced knowledge and experience in a particular area of expertise.
Your pet may be referred to Robert by one of our Veterinary Surgeons and referral consultations occur at our Brindley Way Hospital. Robert will advise the best course of investigation for your pet, which may involve blood tests, ECG, Holter Monitoring, and cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography). Cardiology clinics are available approximately every 2-3 weeks by appointment.
Many cardiac conditions require ongoing monitoring every 6-12 months to check disease progression and ensure medications are tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Robert is happy to see these repeat cases to ensure continuity of care and can provide advice when needed in between these follow-up scans.
Conditions that may require referral to Robert:
- Investigation of heart murmurs
- Investigation of abnormal heart rhythms
- Investigation of congenital heart disease, including PDA, VSD, ToF etc.
- Investigation of episodic collapse/syncope (fainting)
- Investigation of exercise intolerance
As Robert also holds a GPCert in Internal Medicine, he may also see complex cases for abdominal ultrasound:
- Investigtaion of liver or kidney disease
- Investigation of gastrointestinal disease
- Ultrasound guided FNA aspirates
Copies of your pet’s full cardiology reports are available via email upon request.
