Meet Preston and Rupert, two incredibly brave rescue kittens who were found abandoned in a bin bag in a skip 😥
They were suffering from eyelid agenesis, a condition where their upper eyelids hadn’t fully developed due to a birth defect which made it difficult to blink and produce tears. As well as being in chronic pain, the condition – if left untreated – would have resulted in their eyes having to be removed.
Dr Lisa Flood performed delicate reconstructive surgery on the two kittens by creating a skin graft from the lip at the edge of their mouth, rotating it upwards and stitching it to create new, functional eyelids whilst the pair were under anaesthetic.
The operation has vastly improved Rupert and Preston’s quality of life who have been adopted by Amy, a student vet nurse who fell in love with them while she was nursing them back to health🥰🏡
