Vaccinations

  • Dogs, cats and rabbits are susceptible to a range of dangerous infectious diseases. Fortunately, vaccines are available to prevent many of these illnesses. Your vet will be happy to discuss vaccination protocols with you if you have any concerns.

Puppies are vaccinated from 6 weeks of age with 2 vaccines, 4 weeks apart and then yearly thereafter. Dogs should be vaccinated against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo Virus and Leptospirosis.  Kennel Cough Vaccines may also be advisable depending on your pet’s circumstances.

Kittens are vaccinated at 9 weeks and 12 weeks of age and then yearly thereafter. Cats should be vaccinated against Cat Flu, Feline Infectious Enteritis and Feline Leukaemia.

  • Rabbits are vaccinated from 6 weeks of age and then every year thereafter. Rabbits should be vaccinated against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease strains 1 & 2.

It’s essential to get your pet vaccinated annually as many vaccines only last for a year. If vaccinations become overdue, you may have to start the course again.  Insurance cover may be jeopardised if you do not maintain your pet’s vaccinations.

At your vaccination appointment, your pet will receive a full health check, including advice on preventative healthcare and any concerns you may have.

We routinely vaccinate dogs using Lepto2 Vaccinations.  Lepto4 vaccinations are available upon client request for an additional charge.
